WHY AREN'T PEOPLE VISITING MY SITE?

February 15, 2018

The internet is a beautiful thing. It allows people to unleash their creativity, find people with mutual interests, and can be the pathway to a successful career. Many people have taken to the internet to create websites designed to promote their businesses, services, or generate feedback. Creating a website is relatively easy, but making that site a frequently visited page by hordes of people is quite difficult. A website must stand out if it wants multiple impressions. Just creating a site is not enough. I have created a list of some of the main reasons a website gets little attention and ways to combat that issue.

1.  The page is not updated with content frequently

In a rapidly changing world, the content on a site must keep up. There are so many ways people can get their information, so to make sure to constantly update your information. Whether it be the graphics, contact information, videos, or recent pictures, a website will become stagnant without constant attention.

2.  The website creator does not advertise

The best things in life are free. That is true even in the digital realm. One of the best kind of advertisements a site can have is if its creator is known or liked. Getting a little attention for your work isn’t quite as hard as it seems. With so many social media platforms, there are always ways to get work out there. It is important to put forth your best work. The professionalism and creativity of it will cause people to want to see what else you have to offer. Also, consider a Creative Commons license. This allows people to use your work with very few restraints. People love bragging about things or showcasing work they find valuable. Word of mouth and shares on social media are a great way to garner some buzz.

3.  The author does not interact with other bloggers

Interacting with your target audience is a fantastic way to drive site traffic. People love to have their questions answered and to mingle. Getting in touch with similar sites or joining communities that post about similar topics well be advantageous. It will allow users already on comparable pages to find your website.

There are additional steps a creator can take to elevate their web presence, but these initial changes can potentially have a huge impact. It is all about getting a return on your investment, (ROI). Spend the time refining your brand and advertising what you do best. It may take awhile, but if there’s a will, there’s a way!
